On March 1, 2023, Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson welcomed participants at the Creative Placemaking Symposium: Art and Design as Civic Action. The symposium was in celebration of the University of Maryland’s new Creative Placemaking Minor and explored how the fields of art and design can be leveraged in the service of social justice, democracy, and equitable communities.
