Lins Derry

Speaker at the Teaching the Arts in the Age of A.I. Symposium

Lins Derry is a choreographic designer working in dance, data representation, and AI. The body is often her site for investigation and intervention in design and performance, where she analyzes how choreographic thinking can be applied to design processes. Her current work explores how scientific datasets can inspire humanitarian responses through a performative process she calls data embodiment. She also researches how choreographic interfaces can increase kinetic and spatial interactivity between humans and technological systems. Derry is currently an artist-in-residence at the Maya Brin Institute for New Performance at the University of Maryland, College Park; Affiliate at the AI Interdisciplinary Institute at Maryland (AIM); and a principal at metaLAB (at) Harvard, an experimental arts, humanities, and design lab made up of scholars, designers, artists, and technologists.
