Originally founded in 2009, Roomful of Teeth is a two-time Grammy Award-winning vocal supergroup who have rapidly established themselves as leaders and innovators in the field of contemporary music making. The group's performances regularly incorporate an array of disparate singing techniques, unique vocalizations, multimedia engagement and collaboration with the field's most daring creators. Roomful of Teeth relentlessly pushes the boundaries of the human voice. For their debut at The Clarice, the ensemble offers key repertoire selections both old and new, beginning with their signature work Partita for 8 Voices, written by founding member Caroline Shaw, earned the the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Music and appears on Roomful of Teeth's GRAMMY-winning self-titled debut album. The program opens with a more recent work, Allison Loggins-Hull's FRICTION. A genre-defying and deeply moving song cycle, FRICTION features the composer performing with Roomful of Teeth in this vulnerable work for voices, flute and electronics.
