Location: The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, GIldenhorn Recital Hall

Balance Campaign is a contemporary classical sextet that believes that relevant programming and thoughtful collaboration are powerful forces for change towards equal representation in new music. Dedicated to expanding the catalogue of new classical works, they commission and collaborate with musical voices that are too frequently undervalued or excluded from the classical canon to create programs of diverse musical stories. The ensemble also partners with local musicians, artists, composers and presenters to showcase the unique musical landscape of their home in the Maryland and Washington DC area.

As part of their 2024/2025 Residency with University of Maryland, College Park Balance Campaign presents a full program of their commissions, featuring works by Kirsten Volness. University of Maryland alumni Alexandra T Bryant and Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis and the world premiere of a new work by Jeffrey Mumford*.

*This commission has been made possible by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with generous funding provided by The Mellon Foundation.

Presented by the UMD School of Music.
