Marjorie Justine Antonio is a public historian of transnational Filipinx arts activism, visual culture, community archives, and anti-imperialist social movements. After immigrating from the Philippines, Marjorie grew up in the Baltimore County suburbs and a tiny town near Houston, Texas. They are a product of Asian American studies organizing at the University of Maryland, and grassroots community organizing for a genuinely free and democratic Philippines.
Marjorie is pursuing a dual Master’s in History, and Library and Information Science (HiLS) at the University of Maryland. They are currently the MICA Graduate Coordinator for Asian, Pacific Islander, & Desi American (APIDA) Student Involvement & Advocacy, and the Graduate Assistant for the Archive of Immigrant Voices at the Center for Global Migration Studies. They are also an American Conservation Experience intern at the National Park Service’s Cultural Resources Office of Interpretation and Education where they support the expansion of Asian American and Pacific Islander educational resources and intersectional historical storytelling.
As an Inaugural Arts for All Graduate Fellow, Marjorie is conducting community-driven research to find ways to best document and archive the political art and activities of contemporary grassroots Filipino organizers while keeping their security and safety at the forefront.
