Arts in the Community

From sparking civic dialogue to activating social change, Arts for All creates connections across the community.

The arts create belonging.

As a part of our mission, we aim to center people-based, creative processes for problem-solving, inquiry and community building. By working collectively across campus and across the larger community, we use the arts to connect with each other and investigate the issues facing our region, nation and world. All Terps are welcome, and all Terps can find belonging through the arts.

Fund creative collaborations

ArtsAMP Impact Grants for students and faculty engage the arts to create real change.

A professional portrait shows a flutist with shoulder-length dark hair wearing a forest green blazer and gold hoop earrings, smiling warmly while holding her instrument against a softly blurred architectural background. The polished headshot captures the musician's approachable professionalism. The clean, well-lit composition presents a confident image suitable for performance promotion or faculty profiles.

Through Arts for All, I was able to collaborate directly with incarcerated youth to co-create original compositions during a meaningful residency with Sound Impact at the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. It was incredibly powerful for me, and emphasized the importance of community and feeling seen, and how the arts truly have a place everywhere, for everyone.
