Student ArtsAMP Grants Faculty ArtsAMP Grants
To support the creative vision of UMD faculty, graduate students and undergrads, Arts for All offers multiple ArtsAMP Grant cycles each year. While each of our different grant programs have distinct guidelines, eligibility and requirements, ArtsAMP grants share these goals in common:
ArtsAMP grant projects should meaningfully center the arts. Some potential projects may already fall within an arts discipline, like music, performance, visual arts or more. If your potential project is not within an arts discipline, we encourage you to think about the ways the arts could intersect with your work. Are you collaborating with an artist? Are you implementing a methodology rooted in the arts? Does your research create a new avenue within the arts ecosystem of the university? As a part of your application, you will be asked to demonstrate how the arts are incorporated in a significant way to the project.
ArtsAMP grant projects should be interdisciplinary. If your project is firmly situated within an arts discipline, we encourage you to explore new ways to connect outside of your concentration. Where are the intersections between your artistic practice and other disciplines? How can you innovate, experiment or transform your own creativity? If your project is not from an arts discipline, in what ways are you incorporating artistic collaboration and practice to your work?
ArtsAMP grant projects should make the arts accessible to the University of Maryland community and beyond. In any discipline, consider how you can meaningfully engage campus in your work. This can be accomplished in an infinite number of ways and should reflect the overall goals of your project.
ArtsAMP grants should engage a grand challenge through the arts. As part of our work to foster a campuswide culture of creativity and innovation, we are looking for projects across disciplines that leverage the power of the arts to address real-world issues.
As a campuswide initiative, Arts for All seeks to:
- Make the arts at the University of Maryland increasingly accessible to—and representative of—our entire community.
- Partner the arts with technology and other disciplines, especially the sciences.
- Ensure that the arts address the grand challenges of our time and meaningfully engage with research, programs and activities that uplift all voices and address issues of social justice.
We are interested in projects that center at least one, if not multiple, of these priorities.
